Dow Powerhouse announced on July 17, 2012, that it was partnering up with Imagine Homes, an innovative home builder that specializes in green homes, to provide the new Dow Powerhouse Solar Shingle roof system.

With the collaboration, San Antonio, Texas residents will now be able to install the nation's first solar shingle roof, which can be used to power their homes independent from the electric grid.

"The Dow Powerhouse team is tremendously proud and very enthusiastic to be working with one of the nation’s leading green home builders to provide homeowners in the San Antonio metro area with complete energy-efficient building envelope options," said Dan Pezolt, Dow Solar Marketing Director. "Our partnership with Imagine Homes will integrate our neighborhood-friendly Solar Shingles that actively generate electricity with new homes that have been designed from foundation to roof with energy-efficient design in mind."

According to Texas' Energy Department, by 2009, more than 50 percent of Texas electricity customers had access to some form of solar photovoltaic program through their utility or retail energy provider. Texas has also been ranked one of the top seven states for solar energy potential.
